About Us:

Although digital health commands $4B in funding, autoimmune diseases have remained wallflowers at the party. So, how do we make this lonely world of autoimmune disease not so lonely?

Currently, there is a huge unmet need in autoimmune disease. These not-obvious – under the surface – invisible – diseases cause 50 million patients to spend in excess $120 billion a year managing symptoms. When patients seek medical help, on average it takes them 3.6 years and 5 doctors to find a diagnosis. Even more, an increasing number of autoimmune patients are young adults who face decades of diminished quality of life.

This blog series is dedicated to giving voice to autoimmune patients. Using their voices as new sources of ideas and real-world experiments, they can highlight the gaps from research and development through clinical trials, diagnosis, treatment, and care coordination. Through the patient lens, we can address current needs and begin to prioritize the best short-term versus long-term solutions.

In addition to giving an insider look at living with autoimmune diseases, we have selected some of the best autoimmune research for you to peruse. Topics include a number of themes: the gut as an immune organ, the brain-gut axis, the microbiome, and leaky gut.

As we chart the unrecognized world of autoimmunity, we welcome you to come, explore, and learn with us.
