In efforts to familiarize ourselves within an evolving and rapidly growing oral care industry, we here at Your Autoimmunity Connection have interviewed a wide variety of companies with products ranging from nano silver mouthwash to the world’s first oral microbiome probiotic. We thought we had talked to all of the ‘big players’ in the industry… but then we discovered Burst.
We first found them on an Instagram video. In the video, a woman began by rubbing coffee grounds onto a plain corn on the cob, ensuring the coffee grounds had been properly distributed in every crevice of every corn kernel. Once that had been completed, the woman began attempting to brush away the coffee grounds using a regular toothbrush, a spin brush, and a Burst toothbrush. The results were quite staggering, really, and if you watch the video below, you can see why we simply had to talk to Burst to learn more.
We interviewed Ashley Thompson, Head of Marketing at Burst who has been with the company since their launch in August of 2017. They are a young company, and like many startups nowadays, work remotely from locations all across the United States and all across the globe. Despite the distance, Thompson feels welcome in a community tied together by their passion for oral care.
Burst has grown tremendously in a short amount of time, largely due to the fact that they are backed by over 15,000 dental professionals across the country. Support from the dental community is perhaps the most important aspect behind Burst’s platform, seeing as their toothbrush was created for the customer with the intent of catering to the dental professional. From the very beginning of Burst’s conception, dentists and hygienists have provided input throughout the process of product development. Even after, with the product on the market, dentists are still able to benefit by becoming an ambassador for the company. Professionals can offer the Burst toothbrush to patients at premium discounts and in return, receive rewards for supporting the brand.
The Holistic Toothbrush
So what makes this toothbrush different from every other toothbrush? How is it possible that this brush can effectively clean corn of coffee grounds where other toothbrushes cannot?
For starters, Burt’s toothbrush contains one of the most powerful motors on the market that allows the brush to vibrate 33,000 times per minute. That’s a lot of vibrations people. Now, you may be thinking, what about customers with tooth sensitivity?
Well, there is no need to worry about tooth sensitivity either. Burst’s brush heads were designed to be soft, unable to damage enamel while still allowing for a high rate of sonic vibration. The toothbrush also features charcoal-infused bristles to whiten teeth. Another additional benefit of the binchotan charcoal nanoparticles is its antimicrobial absorption properties which according to Burst, is more effective at removing impurities. The brush also features three brushing modes which you can choose from: massage, whitening, and sensitive. While many sonic toothbrushes are built of miscellaneous parts, Burst’s toothbrush was designed from a holistic approach where each part is meant to supplement the others.
Making a Splash in Social Media
According to Thompson, social media has been an insanely productive platform for spreading the word about Burst through dental communities. Social media has allowed Burst to leverage a community of users who are super excited about the project. In fact, most ads that are seen on social media are actual users of the toothbrush (ambassadors) and customers. The toothbrush is even supported by the infamous Khloe Kardashian.
The Kardashians are trend-setters and if this elite family has decided to involve themselves in an oral care company…then you better watch out, because oral health is taking the wellness world by storm.
Burst isn’t shy about sharing their success either. If a new customer was curious about the consumer response to the toothbrush, they can simply check out the ‘Reviews’ section on the website which boasts a whopping 20,672 5-star reviews.
Even without the peculiar Instagram videos and the famous celebrity ambassadors, the overwhelmingly positive response to the brand from the everyday user is convincing enough to make anyone want to try out a brush.
